An Eastern Cape woman, Nomveliso Nqeketho, and her family are seeking answers from the health department after a traumatic incident left her with life-altering injuries following a botched operation over a year ago.

Nomveliso, who hails from Mqwangqweni in Ngqeleni, was pregnant with her second child in 2023 when she experienced swelling in her feet and face in the final month of her pregnancy. Concerned, she sought medical attention at Canzibe Hospital before being transferred to Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital in Mthatha.

However, her ordeal was far from over. Upon arrival at Nelson Mandela Hospital, she was informed that her unborn baby had passed away in her womb, which had also been damaged. She underwent an operation to remove the baby and her damaged womb.

After the operation, Nomveliso was discharged with instructions to attend follow-up appointments at Nolitha Clinic near her home. However, she soon experienced complications, including urine leakage from the surgical site. It was during a subsequent visit to Nelson Mandela Hospital that she received shocking news – a pair of scissors had been left inside her during the initial operation, and she would need to undergo a second surgery to remove them.

Despite spending over a month at the hospital, Nomveliso’s health continued to deteriorate. She has been dealing with incontinence and chronic pain, requiring her to use adult diapers and significantly impacting her quality of life. Her struggles have been exacerbated by the emotional toll of losing her child while undergoing these traumatic experiences.

Over a year has passed, and Nomveliso’s health has not shown any signs of improvement. Her family, including her elder sister Linda Nqeketho, have raised concerns about the lack of transparency and accountability from the Department of Health. They demand answers about the circumstances surrounding Nomveliso’s botched operation, the lack of documentation about her medical history, and the ongoing health issues she faces.

The Eastern Cape Department of Health has promised to investigate the matter and provide information to the family. However, Nomveliso and her loved ones continue to seek justice and closure for the pain and suffering she has endured as a result of medical negligence.

The story of Nomveliso Nqeketho serves as a stark reminder of the importance of accountability in healthcare and the devastating consequences that can arise from medical errors. It is a call to action for better patient care and oversight to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. In today’s digital age, social media marketing has become an essential tool for businesses looking to reach a wider audience and increase brand awareness. One of the most popular platforms for marketing is Facebook, with its vast user base and powerful advertising tools.

With the right strategies in place, businesses can effectively leverage Facebook to connect with their target audience, drive traffic to their website, and generate leads. However, in order to make the most of this platform, it’s important to understand how to use it effectively.

One key aspect of Facebook marketing is creating engaging content that resonates with your audience. This can include a mix of posts, videos, and images that showcase your products or services in a compelling way. By creating content that is both informative and visually appealing, you can capture the attention of your followers and encourage them to engage with your brand.

In addition to creating engaging content, businesses can also take advantage of Facebook’s advertising tools to reach a larger audience. With options to target specific demographics, interests, and behaviors, businesses can ensure that their ads are seen by the right people. By testing different ad formats and targeting options, businesses can optimize their campaigns for maximum effectiveness.

Another important aspect of Facebook marketing is engaging with your audience. This can include responding to comments and messages, participating in conversations, and asking for feedback. By actively engaging with your followers, you can build a loyal community around your brand and strengthen customer relationships.

Overall, Facebook marketing can be a powerful tool for businesses looking to expand their reach and connect with their target audience. By creating engaging content, utilizing advertising tools, and engaging with followers, businesses can effectively leverage this platform to achieve their marketing goals.
