Nicholas Mann, a 28-year-old suburban man, was sentenced to 8 years in prison on Tuesday for stabbing a convenience store clerk in Lincoln Square. This incident occurred on May 17, 2023, while Mann was on parole and out on bail for a pending burglary charge.
The altercation took place at the 7-Eleven located at 5206 North Western Avenue. The store clerk recognized Mann as a troublemaker and asked him to leave the premises. Instead of complying, Mann became aggressive and elbowed the clerk, leading to a physical confrontation. During the scuffle, Mann allegedly stabbed the 51-year-old clerk twice in the back.
Prior to this incident, Mann had posted bail for a burglary charge in Chicago Heights, where he had broken into a church. He had pleaded guilty to this charge and received a 3-year sentence. On Tuesday, Mann pleaded guilty to attempted murder for the stabbing at the 7-Eleven store, and Judge Michael Hood handed down an 8-year sentence.
In addition to the burglary charge, Mann was also on bail for a misdemeanor assault charge and on parole for an aggravated battery case at the time of the stabbing. This pattern of criminal behavior highlights Mann’s disregard for the law and the safety of others.
