Inspiring Women’s Union Chair in South Sudan Urges for Peace and Development
Amidst the ongoing challenges faced by the people of South Sudan, Madelina Dudu Kuje, Chair of the Women’s Union in Kasire, has made a compelling appeal for peace and development in the war-torn nation. At 65, Madelina, a widow and mother, understands the urgency of creating a stable environment where children can thrive.
Speaking at an event organized by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) in Juba, Madelina emphasized the need for collaboration between the government and citizens to address the persistent conflict, economic hardships, and limited opportunities that hinder the youth from reaching their potential.
Having turned to farming after becoming a widow, Madelina is a symbol of resilience among South Sudanese women. However, she remains frustrated by the systemic failures that contribute to widespread youth unemployment and other social challenges.
Despite the challenges, Madelina urged the youth to endure the difficult situation, assuring them that change is on the horizon. She highlighted the importance of community engagement, especially through women’s groups, in promoting dialogue and peacebuilding efforts.
Women in South Sudan have been at the forefront of advocating for peace and stability, facing immense challenges while setting an example of resilience and determination. Madelina’s message to women is to create an environment conducive to their children’s growth and development, emphasizing the crucial role of stability in fostering peace.
As South Sudan continues its journey towards peace and development, Madelina’s words serve as a reminder that change begins at the community level, with each individual playing a vital role in shaping a better future for the nation.
