Brutal Murder Rocks Muhlava Cross Village in Limpopo
Residents of Muhlava Cross village near Nkowankowa in Tzaneen, Limpopo, are reeling from the shock of a brutal murder that has left the community in a state of fear and uncertainty. The victim, Elizabeth Gana, a 58-year-old woman, was found dead in her burnt-down house with one of her legs chopped off. The gruesome nature of the murder has sent shockwaves through the small village, with residents calling for swift action from the police.
According to community leader Elizabeth Shingange, Gana was living with her brother in the same yard at the time of her death. The community is still waiting for the DNA test results as Gana’s charred body remains in the mortuary. Shingange expressed her disbelief at the senseless killing, describing Gana as a kind and gentle soul who had no known enemies in the village.
The lack of progress in the investigation has left the community on edge, with fears of further violence gripping the residents. Themba Mhlongo, another community member, highlighted the growing concern over the rising number of women being killed in the Nkowankowa area. Mhlongo urged the community to come together and collaborate with law enforcement agencies to combat crime in the region.
Limpopo Police Launch Investigation
Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba confirmed that an investigation is underway into Gana’s murder. The police have opened an inquest and are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspects. The community is hopeful that justice will be served and those responsible for Gana’s death will be held accountable.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Limpopo police are also investigating the discovery of a charred body at the Eisleben, Makgatho sports grounds in Morebeng near Louis Trichardt. The body, burnt beyond recognition, has yet to be identified, and the motive behind the murder remains unclear. However, police have not ruled out the possibility of mob justice or related incidents.
The spate of violent crimes in the region has left residents on edge and calling for increased police presence and action to curb the rising tide of violence. The community is united in their demand for justice for the victims and an end to the senseless killings that have plagued their village.
