Wizkid Releases Highly Anticipated Fifth Studio Album, Morayo
Renowned Nigerian singer, Ayo Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has finally dropped his long-awaited fifth studio album, Morayo.
The album was officially released on all major streaming platforms in the early hours of Friday, much to the delight of his fans worldwide.
Morayo, which means “I have seen joy” in Yoruba, serves as a heartfelt tribute to Wizkid’s late mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, who sadly passed away in August 2023.
The tracklist of Morayo includes songs like Troubled Mind, Karamo, Kese (Dance), Bad Girl, Time, Piece of My Heart, Break Me Down, Bend, and A Million Blessings, each showcasing Wizkid’s signature sound and lyrical prowess.
Other tracks on the album include Après Minuit, Bad for You, Soji, Don’t Care, Slow, Lose, and Pray, offering a diverse range of musical styles and themes.
Collaborating with artists like Asake, Brent Faiyaz, Jazmine Sullivan, Anaïs, and Tiakola, Wizkid showcases his versatility and ability to create captivating music that resonates with audiences globally.
Leading up to the release of Morayo, Wizkid teased fans with singles like Piece of My Heart and Kese (Dance) in October and November, respectively, building anticipation for the full album.
Having risen to fame in 2011 with his debut album, Superstar, Wizkid has continued to solidify his status as a music icon with subsequent releases like Ayo, Sounds from the Other Side, Made in Lagos, and More Love, Less Ego.
His musical achievements include winning a Grammy Award in 2021 for his collaboration with Beyoncé on the chart-topping track Brown Skin Girl, as well as having Made in Lagos recognized as the most-streamed Nigerian album on Apple Music in October.
