Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Moana 2” Smashes Box Office Records On Way To $386M Global Opening

Walt Disney Animation Studios has once again taken the box office by storm with the release of “Moana 2”. The film, which reunites Moana and Maui for a new adventure, has broken numerous records in its domestic debut, raking in an impressive $221 million over a 5-day period.

Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Alan Bergman expressed his delight at the film’s success, noting that “Moana 2” has exceeded expectations and is a true testament to the enduring popularity of the original “Moana”. The talented creative team at Disney Animation, along with the voices of Auli‘i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson, have brought this new adventure to life in spectacular fashion.

In the United States, “Moana 2” has set several records, including the biggest 5-day opening of all time, the biggest Thanksgiving weekend debut, and the biggest Thanksgiving day box office numbers. The film has also become the highest-grossing Walt Disney Animation Studios debut ever.

Internationally, “Moana 2” has seen similar success, with number one openings in multiple markets. It has achieved the highest animated opening weekend of all time in France and has set records across Latin America, Africa, and other regions.

Directed by Jason Hand, Dana Ledoux Miller, and David G. Derrick Jr., “Moana 2” follows Moana on a new journey to the far seas of Oceania, where she must navigate dangerous waters and face new challenges. The film’s voice cast includes a talented lineup of actors, including Hualālai Chung, Rose Matafeo, and Temuera Morrison.

The music for “Moana 2” is composed by Grammy winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, along with Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa‘i and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina.

Fans can connect with “Moana 2” on social media through Disney Studios Africa’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts. The film is currently open in most markets worldwide, with releases in Japan, Thailand, and Hong Kong scheduled for the upcoming week.

“Moana 2” is the latest success for Disney Animation, following in the footsteps of other blockbuster releases like “Deadpool & Wolverine” and “Inside Out 2”. With its record-breaking debut, stunning animation, and captivating storyline, “Moana 2” is sure to be a hit with audiences around the globe.
