Two bumbling burglars attempted to break into a Queens drug store using a crowbar, but their heist was ultimately unsuccessful as they left empty-handed. The incident, which occurred on December 15th at a pharmacy in Corona, was captured on surveillance video released by the NYPD.
In the video, the suspects can be seen breaking the roll-down gate of the pharmacy and attempting to pick or break the lock with the crowbar. After several failed attempts, one of the suspects successfully smashed through the glass door and entered the store. However, they fled without taking anything.
This failed burglary is just one in a series of incidents that the suspects were allegedly involved in over a two-week period. The spree included eight burglaries in total, where the suspects managed to steal over $3,000, lottery tickets, and drugs.
The pattern of burglaries began on December 6th when one of the suspects broke into a drug store in Kew Gardens, stealing cash and lottery tickets. The trio continued their crime spree by targeting pharmacies in Fresh Meadows, Woodside, and Astoria, but were unsuccessful in some attempts due to the security measures in place.
Despite their failed attempts, the suspects managed to successfully break into a drug store in Woodside on December 15th, stealing $400. They also targeted pharmacies in Forest Hills and Dyker Heights, making off with cash and narcotics.
The suspects were often seen fleeing the crime scenes in a gray Infiniti sedan driven by an accomplice. Despite the string of burglaries, no arrests have been made in connection to these incidents.
The NYPD is urging anyone with information on the crimes to come forward and call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted online through the Crime Stoppers website. Authorities are hopeful that with the public’s help, they will be able to apprehend the suspects responsible for these brazen burglaries.
