Union Berlin’s Derrick Arthur Köhn earns maiden Black Stars call-up for Chad & Mali clashes

Ghana’s National Team, the Black Stars, have officially announced their 24-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali next month. Head coach Otto Addo has selected a mix of experienced players and rising talents to represent the country in these crucial matches.

Key players such as Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, Gideon Mensah, Antoine Semenyo, and Inaki Williams have all been included in the squad. Additionally, Union Berlin left-back Derrick Arthur Köhn has earned his first senior call-up after an impressive season on loan at Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga.

Exciting young talent like winger Kamal Deen Sulemana and midfielder Elisha Owusu, who is making a return from injury, have also made the cut. Caleb Yirenkyi, Tariq Lamptey, Christopher Bonsu Baah, and goalkeeper Joseph Anang are among the emerging players who will be representing Ghana in the upcoming qualifiers.

Currently leading Group I in the African Qualifiers with 15 points from six matches, the Black Stars are in a strong position to secure their spot in the World Cup. The team will begin their preparations in Accra on September 1, with training sessions open to the media and public at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Ghana will face Chad on September 4 at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno before returning home to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8. The squad is ready to showcase their talent and determination as they aim to secure their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

– Goalkeepers: Lawrence Ati Zigi, Joseph Anang, Benjamin Asare
– Defenders: Gideon Mensah, Derrick Arthur Köhn, Mohammed Salisu, Jerome Opoku, Alexander Djiku, Tomas Adjeffey, Tariq Lamptey, Caleb Yirenkyi
– Midfielders: Elisha Owusu, Mohammed Kudus, Ibrahim Osman, Ibrahim Sulemana, Thomas Partey, Abdul Salis Samed
– Forwards: Antoine Semenyo, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Joseph Paintsil, Jerry Afrite, Jordan Ayew, Christopher Bonsu Baah, Inaki Williams
