South Africa is on the verge of claiming the world title in the World Test Championship final against Australia in London. Needing 69 runs to win in their second innings, with eight wickets in hand, the team is in a strong position to secure victory.

Opening batsman Aiden Markram and captain Temba Bavuma played a crucial role in keeping South Africa in contention. Their unbroken partnership carried the match into day four, with South Africa reaching 213/2 by the end of play. Markram scored an impressive 102 not out, while Bavuma, despite struggling with a left hamstring strain, remained unbeaten on 65.

In Australia’s second innings, the team resumed at 144/8, with Mitchell Starc leading the charge. Starc’s resilient performance saw him scoring 58 not out off 136 balls, his 11th Test fifty. However, Australia was eventually bowled out for 207, with fast bowler Kagiso Rabada taking 4/59 to complete match figures of 9/110. Seamer Lungi Ngidi also contributed with 3/38 after a wicketless first innings.

As the match heads into the final stages, South Africa’s pursuit of 69 runs for victory promises an exciting conclusion to the World Test Championship final. Stay tuned for more updates on this thrilling cricket encounter.
