University of Ghana Medical Centre to Introduce Hair Transplant Services

The University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) will soon offer hair transplant services as a form of plastic surgery for individuals experiencing baldness. This new initiative is set to roll out by the end of the year, providing a solution for those looking to restore their hair.

What is Hair Transplant?

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), hair transplant is a surgical procedure where hair is transferred from a donor area to a recipient area that is bald or thinning. This procedure aims to improve the appearance of the individual and boost their confidence.

Director of Medical Affairs Speaks

Dr. Baffoe Gyan, the Director of Medical Affairs at UGMC, expressed excitement about the upcoming launch of the hair transplant service. He mentioned that the centre had successfully piloted the procedure and was now ready to offer it to the public.

Building a Specialized Team

Dr. Gyan highlighted the importance of having a skilled medical team to carry out the hair transplant procedures effectively. The centre is currently grooming a team of young medical professionals who are eager to deliver exceptional results once the service is fully operational.

UGMC’s Vision for Excellence

UGMC aims to become a world-class medical facility offering a wide range of specialized services. By introducing innovative procedures like hair transplant, the centre is setting itself apart as a leader in advanced medical care.

Continued Innovation

Aside from hair transplant, UGMC has also been pioneering other groundbreaking medical treatments such as catheter ablation, hole-in-heart surgeries, laparoscopic gastric sleeve surgery, kidney transplants, and bone marrow transplants. The centre is committed to expanding its medical capabilities to serve the community better.
