Thunderstorms and Chance of Hail Expected on Eastern Plains Before Heatwave Hits

More thunderstorms and a chance of hail could hit the Eastern Plains Monday afternoon before a heatwave arrives later this week.

Scattered storms are forecasted across the I-25 corridor, but will become stronger as they move east. Communities in the northeast could see winds up to 80 miles per hour and hail up to 2 inches in diameter, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

The Eastern Plains will also see a heatwave later this week as temperatures reach near 100 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the weather service’s forecast.

Ozone levels may also reach unhealthy levels for sensitive groups across the Front Range on Monday, including in Denver. People with lung disease, including asthma, and active children are more likely to experience respiratory symptoms and breathing discomfort and should limit their time outdoors, according to the weather service.
