Celebrated Nigerian Artists Shine at the 2025 Grammy Awards

Nigeria’s very own Tems has emerged as a standout artist at the 2025 Grammy Awards, securing a total of three nominations. The talented singer-songwriter, Temilade Openiyi, has been recognized in the categories of Best Global Music Album for her debut album “Born in the Wild”, Best Global Music Performance for her hit single “Love Me Jeje”, and Best African Music Performance, showcasing her immense talent and creativity.

Burna Boy, popularly known as the “African Giant”, continues to make waves on the international music scene. After clinching his first Grammy win in 2021 for “Twice as Tall”, Burna Boy has consistently received nominations, solidifying his position as a global music icon. Similarly, Wizkid, affectionately referred to as “Starboy” by his fans, secured a Grammy win in 2021 for Best Music Video for his collaboration with Beyoncé on “Brown Skin Girl”.

In addition to Tems, Davido has also made a mark at the 2025 Grammy Awards with three nominations under his belt. His album “Timeless” has earned him a nomination for Best Global Music Album, while his tracks “Unavailable” featuring Musa Keys and “Feel” have been recognized in the categories of Best African Music Performance and Best Global Music Performance, respectively.

The Nigerian music industry has seen several notable figures receive Grammy recognition over the years. Sikiru Adepoju, a renowned percussionist, won a Grammy in 2009 for his work on the Global Drum Project, while King Sunny Adé, a veteran musician, received his first nomination back in 1983. Femi Kuti, the son of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, has also garnered multiple Grammy nominations, highlighting the enduring legacy of Afrobeat music.
