Swiss International Air Lines has announced the tragic death of a cabin crew member who was hospitalized after a flight incident last week. The Airbus A220-300 was flying from Bucharest to Zurich when it encountered engine problems and smoke in the cabin, leading to an emergency landing in Graz, Austria on December 23.
The crew member was rushed to a hospital in Graz but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The news has left the airline deeply saddened, with CEO Jens Fehlinger expressing shock and condolences to the family of the deceased.
Due to privacy considerations for the family, Swiss International Air Lines has refrained from providing further details about the crew member or the cause of death. The flight had 74 passengers on board, with 12 individuals requiring medical attention. Thankfully, all hospitalized passengers have since been discharged.
Initial investigations suggest a technical issue with one of the engines, with a focus on the use of protective breathing equipment for the cabin crew. Swiss International Air Lines continues to investigate the incident to ensure the safety and well-being of its passengers and crew members.
