Adabraka District Court Orders Two-Week Detention for Suspect in Ghana Immigration Officer’s Murder
The Adabraka District Court has issued a two-week detention order for Bright Aweh in connection with the tragic killing of Ghana Immigration Service officer Stephen Amoah.
Authorities have linked Aweh to the disappearance of the 38-year-old officer, who was last seen on July 3 after leaving his home to meet Aweh regarding a debt repayment. Evidence includes photos of cash that Aweh sent, implicating him in the case.
Amoah’s partially burned body was discovered near Kwabenya on July 9. Following the grim discovery, forensic teams found bloodstains and signs of cleanup at Aweh’s residence, as well as a bloodied fufu pestle and burnt carpet at another location. Additionally, Amoah’s vehicle, which was seized by the police, tested positive for blood, pending DNA confirmation.
Speaking outside the courtroom, Amoah’s sister Vesta expressed the family’s anguish and called for justice to be served. The Criminal Investigation Department is diligently working on building a strong case as the next hearing is scheduled for August 22.
