The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has called on the Black Stars to step up to the plate as they gear up for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
In a morale-boosting visit to the team’s camp, the Minister acknowledged the disappointment of the draw against Chad but expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to bounce back. He emphasized the talent, passion, and opportunity that the players possess to turn things around.
“I know what you’re capable of. There’s no better team than you. You have the talent, the passion, and the opportunity to turn this around,” he said.
The Minister’s visit was aimed at offering support and understanding to the team in their quest for qualification, rather than criticism. The players and technical staff assured him that they had learned valuable lessons from the Chad game.
Head coach Otto Addo reaffirmed the team’s focus on qualification and highlighted the advantage of playing on a natural grass pitch at the Accra Sports Stadium. He expressed confidence in the team’s ability to deliver a strong performance against Mali.
One of the senior players echoed the squad’s determination, stating, “We know what went wrong, and we are determined to correct it. The win is coming.”
The Ministry emphasized its commitment to supporting national teams during challenging times, not just in terms of resources but also in standing by them.
With qualification on the line, the Black Stars will be looking to redeem themselves in front of their home fans on Monday.
