The South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) has taken a proactive step in enhancing the skills of both international and national referees by organizing a three-day workshop through its Central Refereeing Committee. The workshop, which is being held at the Football Association headquarters, is being led by Daboul Paul, head of the committee, who stresses the importance of this training initiative.

The primary focus of the workshop is to delve into various aspects of football laws and the physical fitness required by referees. Esteemed former international referees have been invited to deliver lectures on these topics, providing valuable insights and knowledge to the participants. Practical and theoretical tests are also being conducted to further hone the abilities of the referees and ensure they are well-equipped to officiate matches effectively.

Victor Lawrence, Secretary General of SSFA, has set a goal of increasing the number of referees participating in international competitions in the coming years. He has urged the referees to strive for excellence and learn from the experiences of seasoned professionals in order to elevate their own skills.

Wiyual Lampouch, Chairperson of the Competitions Committee, has also emphasized the importance of ongoing efforts to enhance the skills of referees involved in national championships. The association is dedicated to providing the necessary resources and support to help referees excel, especially during crucial matches.

Overall, this workshop is a crucial step in the development and competency of referees in South Sudan. By investing in their training and skills enhancement, the SSFA is paving the way for a stronger and more proficient referee pool that can contribute positively to the growth of football in the country.
