The Aubrey Tau Foundation has come out in support of KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, praising his bravery and dedication to the country. Tau, who is the CEO of Moja Love TV channel, commended Mkhwanazi for standing up for the truth despite facing criticism and potential threats to his safety.
Mkhwanazi recently spoke out against the alleged protection of certain businesspeople by national police leadership and the pressure on provincial police officers to drop cases involving politically connected individuals. The foundation lauded Mkhwanazi for his courage in speaking out against corruption and injustice within the police force.
In a statement, the Aubrey Tau Foundation criticized the South African Police Service (SAPS) for refusing to collaborate with Moja Love’s crime-fighting shows. The foundation highlighted the popular show “Sizok’thola,” which aims to combat drug trafficking in communities by exposing and apprehending drug dealers. However, the show’s host, Xolani Khumalo, and his team have faced obstacles in removing alleged suspects from the community due to interference from higher authorities.
Khumalo, in a previous interview, detailed an incident where a senior SAPS member allegedly protected a drug kingpin in KZN, leading to a dangerous encounter during a raid. Despite working closely with the police on their operations, Khumalo expressed frustration with the lack of support and integrity within the police force. He emphasized the need for honest and dedicated officers to combat corruption and uphold justice.
The Aubrey Tau Foundation’s support for Mkhwanazi and Moja Love’s efforts to expose criminals and restore confidence in the justice system highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in South Africa. By shedding light on these issues, the foundation aims to promote accountability and transparency within the police force to ensure a safer and more just society for all.
