Salpha Energy, a Nigerian clean energy startup founded and operated by women, has secured $1.3 million in funding from All On, an impact investment firm supported by Shell. This funding will be instrumental in supporting the expansion of Salpha Energy’s solar assembly activities and increasing access to affordable off-grid electricity in underserved Nigerian communities.

One of the key distinguishing factors of Salpha Energy is that it is among the few female-led companies in Sub-Saharan Africa that operate a solar home system assembly facility. By having local manufacturing capacity, the company is able to closely manage product quality and design, while also creating employment opportunities within the region.

With the new funding in place, Salpha Energy aims to grow its operations, diversify its range of solar products, and strengthen its domestic assembly capabilities. The company’s solar solutions, which range from 150Wp to 100kWp systems with battery storage and smart inverters, have already positively impacted over two million people. The upcoming expansion phase seeks to further extend energy access to more households and small businesses in underserved communities.

Founder and CEO Sandra Chukwudozie emphasized the significance of providing locally designed and assembled energy solutions, highlighting that it goes beyond just illuminating homes and businesses—it also enhances productivity and restores dignity to millions of off-grid Africans.

Caroline Eboumbou, CEO of All On, underscored the strategic decision to structure the investment in local currency to mitigate exchange rate risks that often challenge Nigeria’s clean energy sector. She also commended Salpha Energy for its role in advancing local manufacturing across Africa and its impact as a female-led clean technology company.

Salpha Energy’s commitment to localization and inclusion sets it apart from many competitors who rely on imported systems. This local assembly model positions the company for long-term operational sustainability and greater economic impact. The investment from All On provides the necessary support for Salpha Energy to scale while staying true to its core mission.

The collaboration between Salpha Energy and All On represents a significant step towards advancing clean energy access in Nigeria and empowering local communities through sustainable energy solutions.
