Republican National Committee Sues Georgia Counties Over Ballot Observers
The Republican National Committee has taken legal action against several Georgia counties, alleging that they accepted ballots over the weekend without allowing Republican poll watchers to observe the process.
RNC Chairman Michael Whatley expressed concerns about the conduct of Democrat officials in Georgia, accusing them of disregarding election laws in Fulton, Cobb, DeKalb, and Gwinnett counties. He stated that these counties allowed ballots to be accepted over the weekend without permitting Republican poll observers to oversee the process, despite guidance from the Secretary of State.
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger clarified that under state law, election officials can receive absentee ballots in person at government facilities if the county chooses to do so. He emphasized the importance of transparency and compliance with Georgia law in handling absentee ballots.
Whatley emphasized the need for fair, transparent, and secure elections in Georgia, urging state authorities and courts to ensure that all counties adhere to election protocols to maintain public trust in the electoral process.
