Retired Detective Shot Dead by Son in Long Island Home
Tragedy struck a Long Island home when a 75-year-old retired detective, John “Jack” Miller, was fatally shot by his son, Christopher Miller, 43, during a heated argument on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred in their Dix Hills residence around 7:25 a.m., according to authorities.
Christopher Miller, who had recently been discharged from a local hospital following a car accident on Monday, allegedly used a shotgun to shoot his father multiple times during the altercation.
The younger Miller had been reported missing by his father the day before the deadly confrontation. It was revealed that Christopher had moved in with his father after going through a divorce.
After the shooting, Christopher fled to a shed on Seaman Neck Road, prompting a concerned homeowner to contact the authorities. Police arrived at the scene and apprehended him before discovering John Miller’s lifeless body in the house.
Christopher Miller was arrested and charged with murder. He was then taken to the hospital for injuries sustained in the car crash. His arraignment is scheduled for a later date.

When contacted for a statement, a member of the Miller family declined to comment on the tragic events that unfolded in their home.
