Ghanaian forward Ernest Nuamah has expressed his delight after scoring his first goal for Lyon in European competition, paving the way for more successful performances with the French club.

The 21-year-old winger showcased his talent as Lyon orchestrated a thrilling comeback to defeat Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night. Despite facing an early setback with Ansgar Knauff’s goal for Frankfurt, Lyon fought back valiantly, with Rayan Cherki leveling the score. In the second half, Malick Fofana and Nuamah added their names to the scoresheet, securing a crucial victory for Lyon. Even though Omar Marmoush managed to pull one back for Frankfurt, Lyon held on to secure the win.

Nuamah, elated with his maiden goal for Lyon, expressed his joy and attributed his success to his unwavering dedication and hard work. “I needed this so much, and I have been working hard for this,” he shared, highlighting the significance of his achievement.

Despite facing challenges with limited playing time this season, Nuamah remains resolute in his determination to prove his worth to the team. Reflecting on his journey, he exuded confidence in his ability to make significant contributions to Lyon in the upcoming matches. “I was out at the beginning of the season, then I came back into the squad. I’m so happy and proud to score my first goal, and hopefully, more will follow,” Nuamah remarked, underscoring his ambition to excel.

In terms of his performance statistics for Lyon this season, Nuamah has featured in 5 matches in the UEFA Europa League, registering a goal and an assist. However, in League One, he is yet to open his account after participating in 9 games.
