I’m not just representing myself, I’m representing a nation and a continent. And I want to make sure that when I get on that stage, I’m advocating for the things that truly matter.”

Chombo’s journey to the top has not been without challenges. She has faced criticism for being too young and inexperienced for a ministerial role, but she has taken it in her stride.

“I understand that there will be criticism,” she said. “But I also understand that I have a vision and I have a passion for my country and for my people, and that is what drives me.”

Despite her busy schedule as a lawyer and minister, Chombo continues to advocate for youth development, gender equality, and children’s rights. She is determined to make a positive impact on her country and inspire the next generation of leaders.

Her story is a testament to the power of determination, passion, and hard work. Lesego Chombo is not just a beauty queen or a minister – she is a symbol of hope and inspiration for the people of Botswana and beyond.

As she continues to break barriers and defy expectations, Chombo remains grounded and focused on her mission to create a better future for all. With her infectious enthusiasm and impressive achievements, there is no doubt that she will continue to make a lasting impact on the world.

Lesego Chombo, the former beauty queen turned lawyer turned minister, is now making waves in her political office. With a deep understanding of the expectations placed on her in a country where the majority of the population is young, she is determined to bring about positive change.

In a country where unemployment rates are high, especially among young people and women, Chombo is focused on creating opportunities for economic growth and development. She envisions a society where youth can thrive, and she is working towards creating an ecosystem that nurtures youth-led initiatives and strengthens entrepreneurship.

One of Chombo’s key priorities is to tackle corruption in Botswana. With the government undergoing a forensic audit of government spending and cracking down on corrupt practices, she is committed to ensuring that young entrepreneurs have equal opportunities to participate in the economy.

In addition to her focus on youth development, Chombo is also passionate about promoting gender equity. In a country where gender-based violence is a pressing issue, she is advocating for the implementation of a Gender-Based Violence Act to close legal loopholes and ensure justice for survivors.

Chombo is also pushing for a more holistic approach to addressing gender issues, involving multiple government ministries and promoting gender equity education from a young age. She believes that creating a culture of respect and equality at home and in society is essential to preventing gender-based violence.

Despite facing criticism and challenges in her role, Chombo remains determined to make a difference. She credits her mother and other strong women for inspiring her to succeed and is grateful for the support she has received along the way.

As she continues her work as a minister, Chombo’s ultimate goal is to create tangible and sustainable impact. She is focused on leaving a lasting legacy of positive change and is committed to making a difference in the lives of the people of Botswana. As I prepare to leave, I am reminded of the importance of ensuring that someone else is able to carry on the work that I have started. This sentiment speaks to the idea of leaving a legacy behind, one that can continue to thrive and make a positive impact even in my absence.

Leaving a legacy is not just about the work that I have done, but also about the people that I have worked with and the relationships that I have built. It is about empowering others to take on leadership roles and continue the mission that we have set out to accomplish. It is about creating a sense of continuity and sustainability that can withstand the test of time.

When I say that someone else is able to carry it through, I am acknowledging the fact that I am just one part of a larger team. I am not indispensable, and my departure should not be a hindrance to the progress and success of the project. It is about building a strong foundation that can support the growth and development of future generations.

In order to ensure that someone else is able to carry it through, I must be willing to share my knowledge, skills, and expertise with others. I must be open to mentoring and coaching those who are interested in taking on more responsibility and leadership roles. I must be willing to step back and allow others to step forward.

Leaving a legacy is not always easy, but it is a necessary part of leadership. It requires humility, selflessness, and a deep commitment to the greater good. It is about putting the needs of the team and the project above my own personal ambitions and desires.

As I reflect on my time here, I am confident that I have laid the groundwork for future success. I have built strong relationships, fostered a culture of collaboration and innovation, and inspired others to strive for excellence. I am proud of what we have accomplished together, and I am excited to see where the journey will take us next.

In conclusion, when I leave, I want to ensure that someone else is able to carry it through. I want to leave behind a legacy of leadership, teamwork, and dedication that will continue to inspire and motivate others for years to come. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this incredible team, and I am excited to see the amazing things that we will achieve together in the future.
