Copper Queens Midfielder Priscah Chilufya Set to Join Orlando Pride
Exciting news for fans of women’s soccer as Copper Queens and former Red Arrows midfielder Priscah Chilufya is on the verge of linking up with Copper Queens captain Barbra Banda and midfielder Grace Chanda at the reigning NWSL champions Orlando Pride.
Confirming her departure from Liga MX femenil club side Fùtbol club Juarez Femenil, Priscah Chilufya’s move to the United States to play in the National Women’s Soccer League was officially announced by the club’s head coach during a press conference.
“There has been an offer from a team in the United States for Prisca and the decision has been made to take this option. Prisca will become a player for a team in the NWSL. We are very proud of Prisca, the entire women’s team, and Óscar,” Coach Mesta stated.
Expressing the impact of Chilufya’s departure on the team, Coach Oscar Fernandez shared, “From a sporting point of view, it is a difficult decision for us because we are losing a reference point within the team both on and off the pitch. It is very important for us that our players can take steps forward and fulfill their own dreams.”
Grateful for her time at the club, Priscah Chilufya also took the opportunity to thank everyone involved in her journey, saying, “I want to take this opportunity to thank the city, the club, the coaching staff, and the players. They have meant a lot to me, not only as friends but as my family. The city has been like my home, the club has been like my family.”
