Dr Sam Nujoma was a remarkable freedom fighter who led the Ovambo People’s Organisation, the South West Africa People’s Organisation, and the People’s Liberation Army of Namibia in the battle against colonial and apartheid forces. His leadership inspired pride and resistance among the Namibian people, ultimately leading to the country’s independence in 1990.
President Ramaphosa acknowledged Nujoma’s significant contribution to the solidarity and partnership between South Africa and Namibia, pledging to deepen the relationship between the two neighboring nations. He expressed gratitude for Nujoma’s lifelong dedication to serving his nation and called for healing in his legacy.
