Actor Hector David Rivera, best known for his role as the green Power Ranger, has been sentenced to 45 days in prison for a violent assault on an elderly man using a walker. The incident, which took place in Nampa, Idaho in July 2024, was captured on camera and showed Rivera shoving the elderly man to the ground after a dispute over a handicapped parking spot.
Initially facing a 180-day prison sentence, Rivera was given a reduced sentence with 135 days suspended by Canyon County Court Judge Matthew B. Schelstrate. In addition to his prison time, Rivera was also ordered to complete two years of supervised probation and 100 hours of community service.
The disturbing incident, which was caught on a bystander’s dashboard camera, showed Rivera aggressively pushing the elderly man to the ground and shouting at him before driving off in his vehicle. The Nampa Police Department confirmed that the altercation stemmed from a parking issue and that the victim was not seriously injured.
After the video of the attack was posted online, social media users helped identify Rivera as the suspect, leading to his arrest. Prior to the incident, Rivera was scheduled to appear at the Magic Valley Comic-Con but did not attend.
Rivera, a Connecticut native, began his acting career with roles in “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” before joining the Power Rangers franchise. He portrayed the green Power Ranger in various iterations of the show between 2011 and 2015.
Despite his time as a superhero, Rivera has continued to act in various productions, with his most recent appearance in the 2024 Netflix film “The Merry Gentleman.” The actor’s future in the industry remains uncertain following his conviction and prison sentence.
