Armard Swart, a 30-year-old engineer, was tragically shot and killed while seated in his vehicle outside his workplace in Vereeniging. The incident occurred on 17 April 2024, when two suspects driving a white Hyundai i20 opened fire on Swart, resulting in him sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. Shockingly, Swart was shot a total of 23 times, leading to his untimely death at the scene.
Following an intensive investigation conducted by the police, a warrant of arrest has been issued for Lucky Boitumelo Molefe, a former employee of Transnet Freight Rail (TFR), in connection with Swart’s murder. It is believed that Swart was targeted and assassinated by the suspects to silence him after he exposed fraud and corruption related to a Transnet tender contract.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Mukhathi, revealed that four suspects, including one believed to be the mastermind behind the murder, have been arrested. However, Molefe has been evading authorities since December 2024, prompting a nationwide search for his whereabouts. The public is urged to come forward with any information that may lead to Molefe’s apprehension.
While the other four accused individuals remain in custody awaiting trial at the Palm Ridge High Court in August 2025, efforts to locate Molefe are ongoing. Sergeant Khorommbi, the investigating officer, can be reached at 063 695 8590 for any tips or leads regarding Molefe’s location.
In a separate incident, a 47-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man were arrested in Bloubergstrand, Western Cape, for the alleged sexual abuse of their two young daughters, aged three and eight years old. The couple faces charges including the production of child sexual abuse material, rape, sexual assault, and sexual grooming. Fortunately, the children have been rescued and placed in a safe environment.
These disturbing events serve as a reminder of the heinous crimes that persist in society and the importance of cooperation between law enforcement and the community to bring perpetrators to justice. It is crucial for individuals with information on either case to come forward and assist in ensuring that justice is served.
