Police Investigating Shooting of Businessman in Mpumalanga
Authorities in Mpumalanga are currently on the lookout for a group of suspects involved in the shooting of businessman Maxwell Mlangeni, owner of Today’s Destiny Logistics. The incident took place on Bethal Road in Witbank, where Mlangeni was driving his Ferrari when he was targeted in what appears to be a hit.
Mlangeni is currently in critical condition in the hospital following the shooting. A video captured at the scene shows Mlangeni’s white Ferrari with multiple bullet holes, indicating the severity of the attack.
Colonel Jabu Ndubane, spokesperson for the Mpumalanga police, stated that the motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and as of now, no suspects have been apprehended in connection with the crime.
Authorities have made a public appeal for anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.

A video posted on social media showcases the aftermath of the shooting, with Mlangeni’s Ferrari visibly damaged by the bullet impacts. The footage has sparked concern among the community and heightened the urgency of the investigation.
Six CIT Robbery Suspects Killed in Tshwane
In a separate incident earlier this week, six suspects involved in cash-in-transit (CIT) robberies were shot dead in Tshwane. According to police reports, the suspects were intercepted in Laudium as they were believed to be en route to rob a cash van in Atteridgeville.
Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masodo confirmed that a shootout ensued between the suspects and law enforcement officers, resulting in the fatal injuries of all six suspects. Police were able to seize unlicensed firearms and ammunition from the scene, indicating the suspects’ criminal intent.
One suspect was successfully apprehended during the operation, providing authorities with a potential lead in ongoing investigations.
Gauteng Province Targets Crime Kingpins
During the 2025 State of the Province Address in Tshwane, Premier Panyaza Lesufi emphasized the Gauteng province’s commitment to combatting crime by identifying and targeting over 400 kingpins involved in criminal activities.
Lesufi acknowledged the prevalent issues faced by the province, including high crime rates and infrastructure challenges like potholes. He highlighted the latest crime statistics, indicating a significant percentage of murder cases in Gauteng compared to other provinces.
The premier reassured the public that efforts are being made to address criminal activities and enhance safety measures within the region.
