A 35-year-old man from Parker, Stacy Garrett Suppeland, has pleaded guilty to child sex exploitation in his third conviction for sex crimes against children. Investigators discovered that he was trading child sexual abuse material and soliciting explicit images from a juvenile.
Suppeland was arrested in June on five counts of sexual exploitation of a child after the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding videos depicting child sexual abuse connected to a Denver-area phone number.
According to court records, Suppeland pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual exploitation of a child on Feb. 24. Prosecutors dropped three exploitation charges and two sentence-enhancing counts for being a habitual sexual offender as part of the plea agreement.
This is not the first time Suppeland has been convicted of such crimes. In 2013, he pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a child and was sentenced to a lifetime of intensive supervised probation. In 2020, he again pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual exploitation of a child and received a sentence of 16 days in jail and 15 years of intensive supervised probation.
Suppeland is being represented by the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender, which has declined to comment on the case. His sentencing hearing is set for April 28.
