Former Ghana Football Association Communications Director, Ibrahim Saanie Daara, has emphasized the need for patience with head coach Otto Addo as he endeavors to rebuild the national team. Saanie Daara highlighted the Black Stars’ qualification for the World Cup by defeating Nigeria with a young squad, but noted that their momentum waned following their elimination from the tournament.

He attributed this decline to the frequent changes in coaching staff, which he believes have disrupted the team’s consistency and confidence. Saanie Daara stressed the importance of allowing Otto Addo the time to develop the next generation of players, stating, “The technical team is currently focused on nurturing a young team, so it is imperative that we exercise patience with this squad.”

In a related development, Ghana’s qualification hopes for the 2025 AFCON hang in the balance as they head into the final two matches of the qualifiers against Niger and Angola. Securing victories in both games is crucial for the Black Stars’ chances of reaching the tournament. Additionally, Ghana’s path to qualification is intertwined with Sudan’s results, as both teams face the same opponents. If Sudan struggles in their matches, Ghana could have a clearer path to advancing to the AFCON, offering them a potential lifeline despite their struggles in the qualifiers.

The Black Stars’ journey to rebuilding and qualification requires time and support, and Saanie Daara’s call for patience reflects the understanding of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the national team. As fans and stakeholders await the outcome of the upcoming matches, the hope remains that Ghana can overcome the obstacles and secure a spot in the prestigious tournament.
