Oppo is on the brink of releasing its most ambitious folding phone yet, with the global launch of the Find N5 scheduled for 20 February. However, some lucky individuals, like myself, have already had the opportunity to get their hands on one of these cutting-edge devices.

Having early access to the Find N5 allows for a sneak peek into what Oppo has in store with this new model. This folding phone is poised to compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and may also provide insights into how it will influence the upcoming OnePlus Open 2.

One of the standout features of the Find N5 is its incredibly slim profile, which is just slightly thicker than the USB-C port at 2.6mm. This design sets it apart as one of the thinnest ‘book-style’ foldables on the market, potentially surpassing the Honor Magic V3 in terms of slimness. Despite its thinness, the Find N5 feels sturdy and well-built in hand, with Oppo’s Billy Zhang boasting that it is the company’s strongest foldable yet.

Pete Lau, Oppo’s Chief Product Officer and co-founder of OnePlus, has confirmed that the Find N5 is equipped with IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 certifications for water resistance. This attention to detail and durability bodes well for the rumored OnePlus Open 2, which is expected to share some design elements with the Find N5.

The Find N5 also features a three-stage physical alert slider and a Hasselblad-tuned rear triple camera system with a periscopic telephoto sensor. The reduced crease on the main folding display and the choice of colors, such as Cosmic Black and Misty White, add to the overall appeal of the device.

Running on Oppo’s latest ColorOS 15 based on Android 15, the Find N5 promises a smooth user experience. This software comparison suggests that the OnePlus Open 2 will likely run on OxygenOS 15, maintaining consistency across the OnePlus brand.

While the Find N5 is set for a global release, Oppo phones may not be readily available in all major markets like the US. However, OnePlus devices are more widely accessible, hinting that the OnePlus Open 2 could be a viable alternative for those in regions where Oppo phones are not prevalent.

As for pricing and how the Find N5 and OnePlus Open 2 stack up against other foldables on the market, only time will tell. But with its sleek design, robust build quality, and advanced features, the Find N5 is shaping up to be a formidable contender in the folding phone arena. The world is constantly changing, and with that change comes new challenges and opportunities. One such challenge that many are facing today is the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on society.

Artificial intelligence is a branch of computer science that aims to create machines that can perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and language translation. AI has the potential to revolutionize a wide range of industries, from healthcare to transportation to finance.

However, with this great potential comes great responsibility. There are concerns about the ethical implications of AI, including issues of bias, privacy, and job displacement. As AI systems become more sophisticated, there is a risk that they may inadvertently perpetuate existing inequalities or discriminate against certain groups of people.

One of the biggest concerns surrounding AI is the issue of bias. AI systems are only as good as the data they are trained on, and if that data is biased, the AI system will also be biased. For example, if a facial recognition system is trained on a dataset that is predominantly made up of white faces, it may struggle to accurately recognize faces of people of color. This could have serious consequences, such as misidentifying individuals or leading to unjust arrests.

Privacy is another major concern when it comes to AI. As AI systems become more prevalent in our daily lives, there is a growing risk that our personal data may be misused or exploited. For example, AI-powered surveillance systems could be used to track individuals without their consent, leading to a loss of privacy and autonomy.

Job displacement is also a significant concern. As AI systems become more advanced, there is a risk that they may automate tasks that were previously performed by humans. This could lead to job losses in certain industries, potentially exacerbating existing inequalities and increasing unemployment rates.

Despite these challenges, there are also many opportunities that AI presents. AI has the potential to improve efficiency, accuracy, and productivity in a wide range of industries. For example, AI-powered healthcare systems could help doctors diagnose diseases more accurately, leading to better patient outcomes. AI-powered transportation systems could help reduce traffic congestion and improve safety on the roads.

Ultimately, the ethical implications of AI will depend on how we as a society choose to regulate and govern its development and use. It is essential that we have robust ethical guidelines in place to ensure that AI systems are fair, transparent, and accountable. By addressing these concerns proactively, we can harness the potential of AI to create a better, more equitable future for all.
