Newly Promoted Warri Wolves Secure First Away Victory in NPFL Season

Warri Wolves, newly promoted to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), clinched their first away win of the season with a resilient 1-0 triumph over Katsina United at the Mohammadu Dikko Stadium on Sunday.

In a closely contested match, forward Igbunu Evwierhurhoma netted the decisive goal in the 76th minute, securing three crucial points for the Seasiders. The victory showcased the team’s determination and grit as they navigated a tough battle on the road.

Following the win, Hon. Onoriode Oborevwori, Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, commended the players and coaching staff for their tenacity. He attributed the success to the unwavering support of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, emphasizing the government’s consistent investment in sports development.

“This victory is a testament to the governor’s commitment to sports and the determination of our boys. Warri Wolves are back in the topflight to compete, and this result shows they mean business,” Oborevwori stated.

The triumph marks a significant milestone for Warri Wolves in their NPFL comeback, setting a positive tone for the upcoming season.

Upcoming Match

Warri Wolves will return to their home turf at the Southern Delta University Stadium, Ozoro, to take on Enugu Rangers on August 31. Fans are anticipated to flock to the stadium in large numbers to support their team in this exciting clash.
