Nike recently made significant changes to its senior leadership team in an effort to revitalize the brand and drive growth after years of sluggish sales. The reshuffle includes an exit and several key promotions across marketing, design, innovation, and growth.
All roles within the senior leadership team will now report directly to Nike CEO and president Elliott Hill. Hill, along with Heidi O’Neill, president of consumer, product, and brand, have decided to divide the consumer, product, and brand leadership into three distinct areas: Consumer and sport, Marketing, and Product creation, which includes innovation and design. These roles will also report directly to Hill.
As part of these changes, O’Neill has chosen to retire from Nike after 26 years. She will continue to serve in an advisory capacity until September 2025. Hill praised O’Neill for her dedication to Nike and her impact on the world of sport, highlighting her success in elevating the brand voice, innovation, and product pipeline.
Several key promotions within the senior leadership team have been announced. Amy Montagne, previously VP/GM global women’s, has been promoted to president, Nike, where she will be responsible for serving consumers across all sports and driving future growth for the brand. Phil McCartney, formerly VP of footwear, has been promoted to EVP, chief innovation, design & product officer, overseeing the creation of innovative products for Nike, Jordan, and Converse. Nicole Graham, previously chief marketing officer, has been promoted to EVP, chief marketing officer, leading storytelling for Nike, Jordan, and Converse.
Additionally, Tom Clarke, strategic advisor to the CEO and a member of the senior leadership team, has taken on the role of chief growth initiatives officer. Hill expressed confidence in the new structure and leadership team, believing that they will be able to leverage Nike’s strengths and lead with sport, putting the athlete at the center of everything they do.
These changes reflect Nike’s commitment to innovation, design, and storytelling to inspire consumers and shape the brand for distinction through the passion and emotion of sport. With the new leadership team in place, Nike is poised to continue its legacy of excellence and drive growth in the years to come.
