Mlindo the Vocalist has become a household name in the South African music industry, thanks to his incredible talent and the support of some of Mzansi’s top artists. In 2018, DJ Maphorisa discovered Mlindo on social media, propelling him to stardom.

Following his discovery, Mlindo released his debut album, “Emakhaya,” in September of the same year, which was a massive success and marked the peak of his career. During this time, Mlindo was earning a substantial amount of money from gigs, reportedly around R120,000 per weekend.

In a recent interview on the show “Piano Pulse,” Mlindo shared insights into his earning potential during the peak of his career. He revealed that he and his band were charging around R60,000 for gigs, with an additional R20,000 for performances with a live band. This resulted in Mlindo making an average of R250,000 per weekend, with him taking home approximately R120,000 after expenses.

Mlindo also spoke about the support he received from fellow artists, including the late rapper Riky Rick. He recounted a touching moment when Riky Rick noticed Mlindo’s limited wardrobe and generously gave him a Maxhosa tracksuit and sneakers from his own collection. This act of kindness demonstrated the camaraderie and support within the music industry.

The interview with Mlindo on “Piano Pulse” shed light on the financial aspects of being a successful musician and the generosity and mentorship that exists among artists. It is clear that Mlindo’s journey to stardom was not only fueled by his talent but also by the guidance and support of his peers in the industry.
