The Kwahu Business Forum, initiated by President John Dramani Mahama, has received praise from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin. He commended the President for creating a platform that not only promotes dialogue but also translates conversations into actionable steps for a brighter economic future.

Speaking at the opening of the Second Edition of the Kwahu Business Forum in Mpraeso, Kwahu South District, the Minority Leader emphasized the importance of such initiatives in shaping the business landscape in Ghana.

The forum, conceived by President Mahama, aims to foster entrepreneurship and support the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Ghana. It aligns with the government’s vision of expanding the private sector, particularly in the agro-processing and manufacturing industries.

Bringing together a diverse group of business owners, industrialists, investors, start-ups, and industry players, the Forum serves as a non-partisan platform for networking, sharing experiences, and exploring opportunities for capital-raising and financial support.

The success of the maiden forum during the 2024 Easter festivities at Mpraeso paved the way for the Second Edition, focusing on “The Future of Business: The Role of the Financial Sector.” Participants shared insights and expectations, contributing to a collective vision for a prosperous economic future.

Mr Afenyo-Markin urged entrepreneurs to seize the opportunities presented at the Forum and invest boldly in their dreams. He emphasized the need for sustained support for entrepreneurship in Ghana to drive economic growth and prosperity.

Recognizing the vital role of the private sector in Ghana’s economic development, Mr Afenyo-Markin called for political leaders’ commitment to supporting local entrepreneurs and creating an environment where success is determined by merit, hard work, and opportunity.

He reiterated the importance of empowering indigenous businesses with capital and confidence to spur productivity and job creation, particularly in addressing youth unemployment, a pressing national challenge.

Having navigated the challenges of both public service and private enterprise, Mr Afenyo-Markin emphasized the significance of entrepreneurship in nation-building. He highlighted the resilience and innovation required in the entrepreneurial journey and the role of a strong and inclusive financial ecosystem in driving economic and social progress.

The Kwahu Business Forum continues to inspire fresh thinking about Ghana’s economic future, underscoring the interconnectedness of the private sector’s strength, indigenous businesses’ resilience, and entrepreneurs’ vision in shaping a prosperous nation.

As Ghana charts its economic course, the Forum serves as a catalyst for collaboration, innovation, and investment, driving sustainable growth and prosperity for all.
