Vance Boelter, the suspected killer of Minnesota State Senator Melissa Hortman and her husband, allegedly went to the homes of four different politicians with the intent to kill them according to the state’s top prosecutor.
Joseph Thompson, the Acting United States Attorney for the District of Minnesota, revealed that Boelter first went to the home of Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman in Chaplin, where he shot the politician and his wife before fleeing the scene. Boelter had disguised himself as a police officer, wearing a uniform and driving a vehicle resembling a police SUV.

Thompson stated that Boelter then proceeded to Maple Grove and attempted to enter the home of an unnamed State Representative, but the lawmaker was not at home as she was on vacation with her family.

Boelter then drove to New Hope and parked outside the home of another Minnesota State Senator. Police were alerted after the shooting at Senator Hoffman’s residence, but Boelter managed to evade capture once again.

Boelter then targeted Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman in Brooklyn Park. When police arrived for a wellness check, Boelter fired at the officers, entered the home, and tragically killed Hortman and her husband, Mark, before fleeing once again.

Fortunately, the Hoffmans survived the attack and are currently hospitalized. Boelter was apprehended Sunday night after a two-day manhunt and has been charged with multiple federal and state offenses including murder and attempted murder.
