Martha Opoku Agyemang: A Champion for Children with Special Needs

Meet Martha Opoku Agyemang, a 56-year-old woman from Kumasi, who has dedicated her life to supporting children with special needs through her foundation, Kids and Single Parents Care Foundation (KSPC). Martha’s journey began when she became a mother to a child with cerebral palsy, sparking her passion to create a community where no parent has to face the challenges of caregiving alone.

Established in 2002, the KSPC Foundation started with radio advocacy and has since grown to provide essential services like therapy, rehabilitation, and medical support to children with special needs. Martha’s foundation currently cares for 32 children, offering a safe space for them to thrive and grow.

Despite facing funding challenges, Martha’s unwavering dedication has garnered national recognition, as she was named a top 10 finalist in MTN Heroes of Change Season 7. Her work not only transforms the lives of the children she cares for but also aims to break down the stigma surrounding disabilities through education and advocacy.

Martha’s story is a testament to the power of empathy and action. She is not just changing the narrative around disability in Ghana but also creating a future where every child, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to thrive. As a finalist in the Health category of MTN Heroes of Change, Martha has the chance to win GHS 100,000 to further her impactful work.
