According to Chicago police, a 37-year-old man was shot multiple times after getting into an argument that turned physical in the 1400 block of West Morse. This marks the 32nd shooting in Rogers Park this year, highlighting the ongoing issue of gun violence in the area.
Emergency Medical Services quickly responded to the scene and transported the victim to St. Francis Hospital in fair condition. Meanwhile, the gunman fled the scene and remains at large. Descriptions provided by an officer on the scene indicated that the suspect was possibly Black or Hispanic, wearing a black Nike hoodie, a black North Face cap, and ripped black jeans. He may have also sported a thin mustache and a small goatee.
The incident adds to a concerning trend of gun violence in Rogers Park. In the previous year, 31 people were shot in the neighborhood, including one accidental self-inflicted injury. In 2022, there were also 31 shooting victims, with four incidents deemed as self-defense. The year 2021 saw 24 shooting victims in Rogers Park, indicating a troubling increase in violent incidents over the years.
