Dean Goldblum: Rising Star in the Entertainment IndustryAll South African CastChallenges and Opportunities in the Industry

Dean Goldblum may not fit the typical mold of an up and coming showbusiness star, but his insatiable curiosity and genuine kindness set him apart in the industry. With several notable roles under his belt and a recent spot in a global Pepsi Zero Sugar ad, Goldblum is making waves in the entertainment world.

The Pepsi ad, a fast-paced musical collage focusing on expressions and interactions with the soft drink, was a big opportunity for Goldblum. While he didn’t have a speaking part, being featured in a major ad campaign is a significant achievement for any actor.

Reflecting on the experience, Goldblum described the six-day shoot as a masterclass, working with a talented international crew and Ridley Scott’s production house. The entire cast of the ad was South African, showcasing local talent on a global stage.

Goldblum’s success extends beyond the Pepsi ad, with credits in various films and TV shows, including “Darby and the Dead,” “Tali’s Joburg Diary,” and South Africa’s first Amazon Prime Original, “The Shakedown.” His upcoming projects include “Pretty How Town” and “Muzzle: City of Wolves.”

Despite his growing resume, Goldblum remains humble and grounded, approaching his work with a gentle and kind demeanor. His passion for acting was sparked at a young age, and he pursued drama classes before landing his first screen role on SABC’s “Little Stars.”

Challenges and Opportunities in the Industry

Goldblum acknowledges the challenges facing the local entertainment industry, particularly in terms of funding for local productions. Despite these hurdles, he remains optimistic about the industry’s resilience and the opportunities available for actors in South Africa.
