Sports Minister Kofi Adams has called for the seamless transition of the Black Satellites squad into the Meteors team, with a few additional players, in preparation for the upcoming 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. This directive comes on the heels of Ghana’s U-20 team’s disappointing exit from the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Despite putting up a commendable performance with a 2-2 draw, the Black Satellites were eliminated on penalties, further prolonging Ghana’s wait to qualify for the U-20 World Cup since 2015. Minister Adams, in a meeting with the Ghana Olympic Committee, stressed the importance of nurturing and retaining the Black Satellites team despite their recent setback.
“The U-20 team’s exit from the African Championships at the quarter-final stage was a heart-wrenching experience, but it is a team with great potential,” stated the Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency.
