Overall, this move by the CBN is expected to bring more accountability and transparency to the POS industry in Nigeria. It will make it easier to track transactions, reduce fraud, and ensure that businesses are operating within the regulations set by the central bank.

That’s all for today. Stay tuned for more updates from the world of tech.

Cheers,

Victoria

Payment providers and mobile money companies are facing a new challenge as compliance checks for updated standards begin on October 20. This leaves operators with just two months to ensure that all terminals in their networks meet the new requirements.

This latest development is part of a series of reforms in the Nigerian payment industry. Last year, POS operators had to register their devices with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) mandated that all transactions must run through licensed aggregators. With over 4 million terminals currently active and 1.5 million POS agents nationwide, the regulator is tightening its control over what has become the country’s largest informal banking channel.

In response to these reforms, payment providers and mobile money companies will need to take responsibility for ensuring that all terminals in their networks are compliant with the new standards. This includes updating millions of devices within a tight timeframe.

In case you missed it, MTN Nigeria is currently hiring an Operational Risk Specialist, while Co-Creation HUB (CcHUB) Nigeria is looking for a Head of Communications. Group Vivendi Africa is also seeking an IT Manager, and Sun King is hiring across different states in Nigeria. Additionally, Businessfront, the parent company of Techpoint Africa, is looking for a Managing Editor (FMCG).

Opportunities abound in the Nigerian tech and finance sectors, with Paystack, Paga, and Moniepoint all recruiting for various positions. Africa’s venture scene will also take the spotlight at the Lagos Venture Finance Summit on September 5th, 2025, hosted by Vencapital.

As the industry continues to evolve, it is crucial for payment providers and mobile money companies to stay ahead of regulatory changes and ensure that their networks are up to date with the latest standards. Compliance checks are just the beginning, and operators must be proactive in meeting these requirements to maintain a strong and secure payment ecosystem. The Benefits of Practicing Mindfulness

In today’s fast-paced world, it can be easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life. However, taking the time to practice mindfulness can have a wide range of benefits for both our mental and physical well-being.

Mindfulness is the practice of being present in the moment and paying attention to our thoughts, feelings, and surroundings without judgment. By focusing on the present moment, we can reduce stress and anxiety, improve our concentration and focus, and enhance our overall sense of well-being.

One of the key benefits of mindfulness is its ability to reduce stress. When we are constantly worrying about the past or the future, our bodies can go into a state of heightened alertness, leading to increased levels of stress. By practicing mindfulness, we can learn to focus on the present moment and let go of worries about the past or future, helping to reduce our stress levels and promote a sense of calm.

In addition to reducing stress, mindfulness can also improve our concentration and focus. When we are fully present in the moment, we are better able to pay attention to the task at hand and avoid distractions. This can lead to increased productivity and efficiency in our daily lives, as well as improved performance in tasks that require focus and attention to detail.

Furthermore, mindfulness can also have a positive impact on our physical health. Research has shown that practicing mindfulness can help to lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation, and improve immune function. By reducing stress and promoting a sense of calm, mindfulness can help to improve our overall health and well-being.

Overall, practicing mindfulness can have a wide range of benefits for both our mental and physical well-being. By taking the time to be present in the moment and focus on our thoughts and feelings without judgment, we can reduce stress, improve our concentration and focus, and enhance our overall sense of well-being. So why not give mindfulness a try and experience the benefits for yourself?
