The KGL Group of companies recently marked the conclusion of the 2025 Democracy Cup, a unique initiative that combines sports and civic engagement to promote democratic values and involve the youth of Ghana. Spearheaded by Speaker Alban Bagbin and the Parliament of Ghana, the Democracy Cup has been a powerful platform for uniting people through the love of football.

As a key sponsor of the event, KGL Group played a central role in supporting the Democracy Cup from its inception to the final match, showcasing the company’s dedication to making a positive impact in the communities it serves.

Mr. Alex Apau Dadey, the Executive Chairman of KGL Group, expressed the company’s commitment to giving back to society and emphasized the importance of responsible corporate citizenship. He stated, “Entrepreneurship without philanthropy doesn’t mean anything, and at KGL Group, we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us.”

The 2025 Democracy Cup concluded with a grand finale at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, bringing together a diverse group of participants, including political leaders, sports enthusiasts, students, and spectators. The event served as a platform to celebrate Ghana’s democratic progress and engage citizens in meaningful dialogue.

The initiative, which aimed to bridge the gap between Parliament and the public, visited various government institutions and key stakeholders before culminating in a thrilling final match. President John Dramani Mahama, who kicked off the finale, highlighted the significance of the Democracy Cup in promoting democratic principles and engaging the youth.

The matchday featured a friendly match between a Parliamentary XI and a Judiciary XI, followed by a competitive game between Accra Great Olympics and Accra Hearts of Oak. The latter emerged victorious with a 1-0 win, showcasing the spirit of healthy competition and unity among democratic institutions.

Following the success of the 2025 Democracy Cup, new partnerships and opportunities have emerged, including a planned international expansion to Germany. The event was not just a sporting spectacle but a celebration of democracy, unity, and the enduring power of football to inspire pride and patriotism.
