Unborn Child Unharmed After Pregnant Woman Shot at KFC Drive-thru

A 45-year-old suspect is facing charges after allegedly shooting a pregnant KFC employee at a drive-thru in Zwide, Eastern Cape. Despite sustaining a gunshot wound to her stomach, the woman’s unborn child remained unharmed, and she is currently in stable condition. The police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge, confirmed that an attempted murder case was opened, leading to the arrest of the suspect a week later in Kwazakele.

In Court Over KFC Shooting

The suspect appeared in the New Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 22nd January, with a formal bail application scheduled for 28th January. Nelson Mandela Bay District Commissioner, Major General Vuyisile Ncata, commended the police for the swift arrest, emphasizing the priority placed on crimes against women, children, and violent offenses involving firearms.

Major General Ncata stated, “Crimes against our women and children, along with violent offenses involving firearms, remain a top priority in our fight against crime. The suspect’s arrest is a crucial step in ensuring justice is served.”

McDonald’s Drive-thru Shooting

This incident follows a similar tragedy at a McDonald’s restaurant in Gauteng, where a six-year-old boy was fatally shot. The child was hit by a bullet while seated in a car with his parents at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Brickfield, Meadowdale.

According to reports, a suspect robbed the boy’s family in the drive-thru line, fired a shot at their car, and instructed them to drive away. Tragically, the bullet struck the child, who later passed away in the hospital.

Police launched a manhunt for the individuals involved in the shooting, as two accomplices were also robbing the McDonald’s store at the time. A case of murder and business robbery was opened, with ongoing investigations into the matter.

As the community grapples with these senseless acts of violence, law enforcement agencies continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of the public. Stay tuned for updates on these cases as justice is sought for the victims and their families.
