Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate for President of the United States, is set to address the nation for the first time since Donald Trump clinched victory as the 47th President. Harris will be delivering her official concession speech at Howard University, her alma mater, in Washington, D.C. at 4 PM ET / 1 PM PT on Wednesday. This comes after she skipped an election night speech, hoping to celebrate her win or at least urge patience as votes were being counted, only for Trump to secure the win overnight.
Earlier today, Harris called Trump to congratulate him on his historic win. President Joe Biden also called President-elect Trump to offer his congratulations and reportedly invited him to visit the White House on Thursday, where Biden is set to deliver a national address.
Harris’ Democratic campaign was a rollercoaster, starting in August after Biden stepped aside, ending his quest for a second term. She quickly garnered high-profile celebrity endorsements from stars like Taylor Swift, Cardi B, Ariana Grande, and more.
Harris has been shattering barriers for years, and her win would have made history as the first woman, Black woman, and person of South Asian descent to become President. On the other hand, Trump makes history as only the second president elected to non-consecutive terms and as the first convicted felon elected to office.
