Jordi Cruyff Joins Indonesia National Team as Technical Adviser

Indonesia’s national football team has made a significant addition to its coaching staff with the appointment of Jordi Cruyff as a technical adviser. The former Barcelona sporting director and player, and son of legendary footballer Johan Cruyff, will be working alongside fellow Dutchman Patrick Kluivert as the team aims for their first-ever World Cup appearance.

Cruyff’s appointment comes as Indonesia intensifies its efforts to secure a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. With Kluivert already on board as head coach, the Indonesian FA (PSSI) is determined to strengthen the team’s chances of success in the crucial stages of World Cup qualification.

Having previously coached at clubs like Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel and Shenzhen FC in China, Cruyff brings a wealth of experience to the role. His expertise was highly recommended by Kluivert, highlighting the importance of his contribution to the team’s development.

Commenting on the appointment, PSSI chairman Erick Thohir stated, “His experience as a player and a coach will be crucial to building the future of Indonesian football.”

Cruyff himself expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, saying, “I’m very excited. I can’t wait to share my experience and knowledge to improve the level of Indonesian football.”

Currently positioned third in their qualifying group with one win and three draws from six matches, Indonesia faces upcoming challenges that will determine their World Cup fate. With a crucial away match against Australia followed by a decisive home fixture against Bahrain, the team is gearing up for a tough battle to secure their spot in the prestigious tournament.
