As the sun sets in Johannesburg, a unique hotspot comes to life – The Pantry, a petrol station turned gourmet deli that has become a favorite among a diverse crowd of night owls, partygoers, and weary paramedics. Open 24 hours a day, this establishment has been serving up delicious treats for the past three years, catering to those in need of a midnight snack after the city’s bars and nightclubs close.

From families enjoying gelato to young friends sharing fries, The Pantry is a melting pot of cultures and languages, reflecting the diversity of South Africa. Whether it’s a toddler in dinosaur pajamas or a group of friends playing cards on a sports car, there’s never a dull moment at this bustling deli.

For some, The Pantry is a regular hangout spot, like Tony and his 18-month-old son Akani who visit every Friday for the lively atmosphere. As the night progresses, the deli transforms into a hub for late-night revelers, with music changing from pop to Amapiano, and the aisles filling up with fashionably dressed women and tipsy partygoers.

But it’s not just about the party crowd – tired hospital staff also find solace at The Pantry during their long shifts. Nurses and doctors stop by for a much-needed coffee break, mingling with the late-night crowd before heading back to work.

As the night winds down and the first light of dawn breaks, The Pantry is still buzzing with activity. Celebrities and glamorous guests make their appearance, adding a touch of luxury to the petrol station setting. And as the pastries are restocked and the clean-shaven customers start to arrive, another day begins in the vibrant city of Johannesburg.

From late-night snacks to celebrity sightings, The Pantry offers a unique and unforgettable experience for all who visit. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite after a night out or a place to unwind during a long shift, this petrol station deli has something for everyone. So next time you find yourself in Johannesburg after dark, make sure to stop by The Pantry for a taste of the city’s vibrant nightlife.
