The South African construction market is booming, with a value of approximately $125 billion, and the broader infrastructure market at $193 billion. As the country continues to make progress, the Big 5 Construct South Africa and South Africa Infrastructure & Water Expo are set to take place at the Gallagher Convention Centre from 18-20 June 2025.

With more than 30 CPD-certified sessions covering project delivery, professional standards, resilience, and regulatory compliance mandates, the event aims to address key industry challenges. The South Africa Infrastructure & Water Forum will feature senior leaders and government representatives discussing funding strategies, policy alignment, and project execution. Infra360 Talks, Water360 Talks, and Big 5 Talks will provide practical insights across various industry verticals, focusing on ethical practices, workforce skills, and digital construction.

The technical programs and knowledge platforms at the event attract influential experts in the construction, infrastructure, and water sectors. With the government committing over $50 billion to construction and infrastructure development over the next decade, the sector is poised to be a vital driver of South Africa’s economic recovery through public-private partnerships and investments.

The 2025 event will feature more than 30 CPD-accredited sessions across four knowledge streams, designed to provide actionable insights for stakeholders working to accelerate the country’s infrastructure goals. The South Africa Infrastructure & Water Forum will focus on policy alignment, sustainable delivery models, and funding frameworks, reflecting the government’s infrastructure commitment and national planning frameworks.

Sessions at the forum will cover infrastructure priorities such as power, logistics, and public-private partnerships, as well as water sector challenges and solutions. The theme, ‘Building Tomorrow: Innovating Infrastructure and Water Solutions for a Thriving South Africa’, will explore funding strategies, policy frameworks, sustainable water resilience, and collaborative solutions to regulatory barriers.

The event will feature sessions led by industry experts such as Mameetse Masemola, Acting Head of Infrastructure South Africa, and a panel discussion on Public-Private Partnerships moderated by Alvino Wildschutt-Prins. Other speakers include representatives from the British High Commission, the African Development Bank, and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

Infra360 and Water360 sessions will provide deep-dive discussions on infrastructure and water system performance, covering topics such as digital infrastructure, ethics, governance, and sustainable infrastructure development. The Big 5 Talks will focus on knowledge exchange, professional development, and skills development in the construction sector.

Overall, the 2025 program aims to align with South Africa’s economic recovery priorities and the National Development Plan 2030. Industry professionals can register for the event for free, with CPD points awarded for eligible talks. Separate registration is required for the South Africa Infrastructure & Water Forum, with limited seats available for attendees.
