The upcoming Clarens Arts Festival in 2025 is set to be a gathering of the country’s crème de la crème in the arts scene. With a diverse lineup of talented Afrikaans, English, and Sotho artists, sculptors, painters, storytellers, speakers, and curators, this event promises to be a memorable experience for all attendees.

Situated amidst the scenic beauty of the Eastern Free State, Clarens has long been a magnet for artists and art enthusiasts from across the country. The idea of an arts festival in this picturesque setting was a natural progression, and in 2022, the Clarens Arts Festival was born. Three years on, it has firmly established itself as a favorite on the national arts festival calendar.

The festival will feature a wide range of artistic expressions, from live theatre, dance, music, visual art, and sculpture. Renowned performers such as André Schwartz, Ian Roberts and his Radio Kalahari Orkes, and local music star Josh Mokoena will entertain the crowds with their exceptional talents. Additionally, there will be dramatic performances, including the award-winning musical “Vincent” and a celebration of the life and work of South African writer Breyten Breytenbach.

For literature enthusiasts, a lineup of inspiring poets and authors will share their works in Afrikaans, English, and Sotho, bringing the written word to life. Authors such as Tony Park and Susan Coetzer will also be present to share insights into their craft and latest works.

The festival will not only focus on the arts but also feature discussions on topical issues, including debates on the state of the nation and explorations of Clarens’ rich archaeological heritage. Attendees can also look forward to engaging workshops and interactive sessions with artists and experts in various fields.

With over 40 visual artists showcasing their work in the village square, attendees will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a world of art and creativity. From traditional paintings to contemporary African art, there will be something for every art lover to enjoy.

Whether you’re a seasoned art enthusiast or simply looking to explore your creative side, the Clarens Arts Festival promises to be a vibrant and enriching experience for all. For more information and to stay updated on the festival program, visit the official website at clarensartsfestival.co.za.
