American Actor Richard Gere Criticizes President Trump at Spain’s Top Film Awards

Renowned American actor Richard Gere did not hold back his criticism of President Donald Trump during an awards ceremony in Spain where he received an International Goya Award for his outstanding contribution to filmmaking and social activism.

The 75-year-old actor, known for his roles in iconic films such as Pretty Woman and American Gigolo, used the platform to express his concerns about the current state of affairs in the United States and around the world. Gere referred to President Trump as a “bully” and a “thug,” highlighting his authoritarian tendencies and the negative impact they have on society.

Gere’s remarks were not limited to the US, as he emphasized that authoritarianism is a growing threat globally. He warned against the rise of power-hungry individuals who prioritize their own interests over the well-being of the populace.

During a press conference in Granada, Gere continued to criticize President Trump, echoing his sentiments from the awards ceremony. He expressed his belief that the US, and the world at large, are facing a troubling period characterized by the unchecked influence of wealthy individuals in positions of power.

Richard Gere’s advocacy extends beyond his work in the entertainment industry. He is a vocal supporter of causes such as refugee rights and homelessness, using his platform to raise awareness and effect change. Gere’s dedication to social issues was acknowledged with the prestigious award, presented to him by Spanish actor Antonio Banderas.

In addition to his activism, Gere is known for his longstanding support of Tibet and his close relationship with the Dalai Lama. Despite facing criticism from the Chinese government for his involvement in Tibetan affairs, Gere remains committed to advocating for the rights of the Tibetan people.

Last year, Richard Gere made headlines when he relocated to Madrid with his wife, Alejandra Silva, and their two children. The move reflected Gere’s deep connection to Spain and his desire to immerse himself in the vibrant culture of the country.

As Richard Gere continues to use his platform to speak out against injustice and promote positive change, his words serve as a reminder of the importance of using one’s voice for the greater good.
