Manchester United Defender Harry Maguire Banned from Driving for Speeding Offences
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been banned from driving for 56 days and fined £1,052 after being caught speeding twice in three days.
The 31-year-old was recorded driving his Range Rover at 85mph in a 50mph zone on Wilmslow Road, near Manchester Airport, in March 2024. Maguire pleaded guilty to the offence at Bolton Magistrates’ Court.
Maguire’s solicitor, Gwyn Lewis, acknowledged that the speed at which Maguire was driving was “wholly excessive.” Prior to this incident, Maguire had already accrued three penalty points on his license from a previous offence in 2021 and received an additional three points just two days after the March incident.
Despite being offered a speed awareness course, Maguire was unable to attend due to being out of the country. As a result, the court imposed a fine of £666, along with £120 in costs and a £266 surcharge on the Manchester United player.
