GRNMA Leadership Apologizes to Health Minister, Commits to Constructive Dialogue
The leadership of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has rendered an unqualified apology to the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, following a recent media attack directed at him. The apology was made during a meeting held today, where both parties also discussed key issues affecting nurses and the broader health sector.
Hon. Akandoh accepted the apology, urging the Association to prioritise constructive dialogue with government. He reaffirmed his commitment to building a strong partnership with healthcare professionals to enhance healthcare delivery nationwide.
Highlighting achievements of the current administration, the Minister pointed to the integration of 13,500 nurses onto the government payroll, the establishment of the Ghana Medical Training Fund (GMTF), and the retooling of health facilities across the country. The Minister further pledged to oversee the full implementation of the collective bargaining agreement to improve conditions of service for nurses, while supporting broader health sector reforms aimed at achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
He encouraged the public and stakeholders to remain calm, assuring that government remains committed to addressing challenges within the health sector.
